Human thyroid organoids: tools for understanding thyroid diseases and development

 

How do thyroid diseases arise, and can we recreate the human thyroid in the lab? In this new review, Mírian Romitti and Sabine Costagliola discuss how human stem cell-derived thyroid organoids are transforming the study of thyroid development, congenital hypothyroidism, endocrine disorders, and thyroid cancer. These mini-organs provide powerful new tools to model disease, test therapies, and explore future regenerative approaches for hypothyroidism.
